There is no doubt about the artist's style, which is, obviously, hyperrealistic. Precisely because of that, one cannot mention other "influence" than reality itself, although one can actually talk about admiration towards, specially, two colossus of the painting art: Diego Velázquez and Antonio López.
There are no words to define the greatness of the paintings of the ineffable Velázquez, but, in a huge painting of Antonio López, observed from the appropriate distance, you can even see the small lace curtain of "Mrs. Mary"'s appartment. Notwithstanding, as you get closer, you can only see a dirty spot.
And that is not only art... but magic!

Other artists he also admires are: Joaquín Sorolla, for the dexterity with which he uses lights and shades to make you feel the heat of the summer; Mariano Fortuny, for the virtuosity of his watercolors, similar to oil paintings; Ramon Casas, for his unmistakable stroke and his prolific artwork; Lucian Freud, for his brutality, for knowing exactly what he wants, and the way he wants it.
David, with his artwork, only intends the audience to be able to feel even if a millionth part of what he feels himself in front of one of the paintings of his "heroes".
